Flashcard

Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 3, 2026

Flashcard is designed as a local-first app. It does not require an account, does not include advertising, and does not sell personal information.

Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how Flashcard handles information when you use the Flashcard mobile application. In this policy, "Flashcard", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the developer of Flashcard.

Information You Add to the App

Flashcard lets you create and review flashcards. The information you choose to add may include card text, code snippets, images selected from your photo library, review progress, review timing, difficulty ratings, and app settings.

This information is stored locally on your device using the app's local database and app storage. Flashcard does not upload your flashcards, images, settings, or review history to a server operated by us.

Photos and Images

If you choose to add an image to a flashcard, Flashcard opens your device's photo picker so you can select an image. The selected image is copied into Flashcard's local app storage for use in your card. Flashcard does not upload selected images to us.

Notifications

Flashcard may ask for permission to send notifications. Notifications are used to remind you when cards are ready for review. Notification permission is optional and can be changed in your device settings. Notification content is generic and is scheduled by the app for review reminders.

App Updates and Platform Services

Flashcard may use app store, operating system, and Expo platform services to deliver and manage the app, including application updates. Those services may process technical information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not use Flashcard to collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or tracking data.

Information We Receive if You Contact Us

If you contact us for support or privacy questions, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, name, message, and any troubleshooting details you include. We use that information only to respond to your request and manage support or privacy communications.

How We Use Information

Flashcard uses information in the app to:

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your flashcard content, selected images, settings, or review history with advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to respond to a valid legal request.

Data Retention and Deletion

Flashcard content, images, settings, and review history remain on your device until you delete them in the app, uninstall the app, or remove the app's data through your device settings. If you contact us directly, we retain support or privacy correspondence only as long as needed for the purpose of the request, recordkeeping, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

Your Choices

Children's Privacy

Flashcard does not require users to create an account and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a support or privacy request, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Security

Flashcard is designed to keep app content on your device. You are responsible for securing your device and any backups or screenshots you create. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit the app's design to avoid collecting your flashcard data on our servers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised policy at this page.
